PERS: Past and Future
The Public Employees Retirement System or PERS was established in Oregon in 1945, in an effort to provide retirement security for public employees. Since it's inception, the program has been a target for large corporate interests, who wish to curtail the retirement benefits that public employees receive.
For their latest effort to push back against these cuts, the local SEIU commissioned Softbox to produce an animated short, covering the history of PERS, and their continuing fight for the right to retire with dignity.
